Romance rules at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab

Care center celebrates the season of love

The winter chill eased a little this week as St, Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center hosted a celebration of love for residents and their significant others. With three couples currently in residence and several residents whose spouses were frequent visitors, the center wanted to do something special for them -- and decided that a Valentine luncheon was just the thing.

Over a dozen couples enjoyed a delicious meal catered and served by the St. Johnsbury staff. Red roses adorned each table and each husband was given a rose corsage to present to his wife. During the meal, couples mused on their years together and afterwards one of the gentlemen fetched his accordion and serenaded the couples.

"An event like this reminds you that a good marriage is a source of strength and comfort," said St. Johnsbury Administrator Shawn Hallisey. "There's no medicine on earth as powerful as love."
